Pedagogical Contents

After I explained about the School profile and Curriculum this time I will explain about Pedagogical Contents

Teaching Method that the teacher used:

Approach: Group Discussion

Method: Collaborative Learning

Strategy: Lecture, Discussion and question and answer

They focus on Collaborative Learning so that all students can share their suggestions or opinions about the lesson. This method was very effective to develop their ability to think critically.

In addition, the way lectures used by the teacher when teaching is by two-way communication. The point is, the teacher does not fully speak in front of the class, but students are also given the opportunity to express their ideas.

Learning Materials and Innovation:

Talking about learning materials, the teacher I observed only used guide books, copy papers and overhead projector to support students in learning.

Book: Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial, worksheets

Display board/ Multimedia; video

Sources of learning and technology used by the teacher:

Book: Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial

Overhead Projector, PowerPoint presentation

Authentic assessment used by the teacher:

Assessment will be based on the collected worksheet. The teacher also gives praise and suggestions so that the students can immediately receive input and can develop themselves better at the next meeting. It’s an interesting way to improve students performance.

My classmate and I leave the Philippines with a purpose. Crafted the name of our institution in our shirts is an evidence that we are not alone in conquering our dreams.

At last! We arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to have a 8 hours transit. But the trip doesn’t end yet because we need to wait for our next flight going to Medan City, Indonesia.

It was an exhausting trip but at the same time a wonderful experience.

Thank you very much!

Introduction

Mabuhay!

I am Philip T. Subala 4th year student of Bachelor of Elementary Education major in General Education from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University Mid-La Union Campus, Philippines. First and foremost, I want to share how eager I am to join this program. When my Department Chairman announced that they need students to have their practice teaching out of the country I don’t feel any hesitation to write my name because I do believe that this program SEA Teacher Project or the “Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia” is a once in a lifetime opportunity and a big platform for me to showcase my capabilities that I have learned as well as to enhance more my potentials in teaching. SEA Teacher is a project that aims to provide opportunity for pre-service student teachers from universities in Southeast Asia to have teaching experiences in schools in other countries in Southeast Asia.

So, on this blog, I will tell you completely about my journey during this program. Actually, this was the first time in our university to send student teachers to this program but in overall SEA Teacher I joined Batch 8 which was held from August 10 to September 7, 2019. I was placed in Medan City in the island of North Sumatera Indonesia. Yehey!

I still remember what our coordinator in our university told us that we are not just carrying our name but we are carrying the name of our department, college and most importantly carrying the name of our university DMMMSU. Becoming a pride of our university is also a big responsibility.

Hopefully all of you can enjoy each verse of my journey and hopefully be motivated.

Mula sa kaibuturan ng aking puso. Maraming Salamat po!
